Displacement Glider

The 'Displacement Glider' (DG) is a unique concept which combines elements of displacement and planing hull design. In contrast to a conventional displacement hull most of the displacement occurs in the DG keel. Total resistance is minimized through the combination of the displacement keel (A) and the planing surfaces (B).

Thanks to the new hull form, we are able to increase both efficiency and performance of displacement vessels. Without additional power and with the same pay load speed could be increased by 30 % (!) compared to a traditional displacement vessel. In this way, it is possible to avoid extensive investments into additional motor power, with fuel consumption dropped by at least the same level.

Additionally, the typical wash is reduced to a minimum. An effect, which is already now gaining significant importance in connection with the protection of environment in ecologically sensible shore strips, lagoon towns, docks and in canal shipping.
